Deborah Merritt Plescia, CPO, will be the first woman to hold the position of president of the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics.
An ABC board member since 2011, Plescia joined Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics in 2016 as the clinical director of Boston O&P in Maryland.
Plescia received her B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University and her long term certificate in orthotics and prosthetics from Northwestern University.
Plescia is a Louisiana native and a second-generation CPO. She has treated patients of all ages with a variety of disabling conditions including brain and spinal cord injuries, amputations or limb deficiencies, sports injuries, cancer, diabetes, neurologic conditions, scoliosis, plagiocephaly and orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
Currently president-elect, Plescia will take office on December 1, 2017.
