Judy Smith, who has worked at Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics for 8 years as a customer service representative, won an honorable mention for the Silver Toaster Award for Employee Excellence in Lean.
The Silver Toaster Award is presented annually at the Northeast Lean Conference to recognize an employee who demonstrates exceptional understanding and enthusiasm for the principles of Lean and the ability to share that knowledge with fellow employees. This year’s Northeast Lean Conference was held in Worcester, MA, September 19-20.
Smith was nominated by Ann Keenan, Boston O&P director of manufacturing. “Judy has embraced the Lean philosophy since her first introductory seminar 2 years ago,” said Keenan in her nomination. Keenan added that Smith’s involvement with Lean projects “has been a boost to her development, interest, and enthusiasm in our company. She sees the process of developing internal standards as a way to eliminate mistakes and clear the gray from our customer’s expectations.”
