Boston O&P Sponsors Helping Hands Hero 5K to Raise Funds for Cleveland Clinic Patients

Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics is proud to be a sponsor of the 6th Annual Helping Hands Hero 5K Walk and Run, which will be held on August 28, 2021, at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland, Ohio.

The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 to enable patients of Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital for Rehabilitation to purchase equipment not covered by insurance, such as car seats, helmets, electrical lines for ventilators, wheelchair ramps and other accessibility equipment.

The in-person event includes a 5K run/walk and a 50-yard fun run for kids, with participant prizes for all runners and awards for best costume and race winners. There are virtual versions of both events for those who cannot attend in person.

“With two clinics that focus on taking care of children in the Cleveland area, in Westlake and Middleburg Heights, Boston O&P is proud to support the Cleveland clinic community as a sponsor of this great event,” said Tom Morrissey, President and CEO of Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics.

Not only is Boston O&P supporting the race as a bronze-level sponsor, Todd Kirwan, the clinic director of the two Cleveland-area Boston O&P clinics, plans to represent the Boston O&P team at the event by participating in the 5K.

Cleveland is a great city and wonderful place to live,” said Kirwan, who grew up in Cleveland and moved back when Boston O&P opened its first clinic there. “I love the community and I'm excited for the opportunity to support patients in need by participating in this great event.”
