Boston O&P to Make Presentation on DMOs at ACPOC

Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics is pleased to announce that it will be conducting a workshop at the annual meeting of the Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC), which will be held virtually April 22–24, 2021.

Jim Wynne, Boston O&P’s VP and Director of Education, and Martin Matthews, Managing Director of DM Orthotics, will be presenting an update on dynamic movement orthoses (DMOs), which are designed to manage abnormal tone and neurological dysfunction and improve functional abilities for patients with cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and other neurological conditions.

Matthews will give an overview of recent research on the effectiveness of DMOs, and Wynne will provide information on the various types of DMOs available through Boston O&P, including the DMO Essentials line, which includes single and double shoulder orthoses, vests, shorts, and leggings; DMO Suits, including the DMO Basic Suit and the DMO Premier Suit; and the DMO Sensory product line.

Wynne will also review the results Boston O&P has been seeing with the DMO (see the video of Kaylin below), as well as training options for clinicians interested in learning more about DMOs.

Matthews, who is the founder of DM Orthotics and the creator of the DMO, will provide additional background on how DMOs work as well as exciting developments for the future.
